” My Fake baby”My Fake Baby is a documentary that explores the lives of women who collect and care for life-like designer dolls called “reborns”. The reborns are customized to the owners’ specifications. The dolls can be made to have beating hearts, scratches, milk spots, specific hair colors, and open ears and nostrils — just to name a few. I have watched the 5 part series on YouTube and have to say that they did a good job on telling everyone about reborns. It has now been removed due to copy right. I found it to be a little bit depressing the way they presented it. The art form takes a long time to perfect and they mainly focused on the baby replacement side of things instead of the collectible art side of things. Overall its great to see mainstream media finally recognizing our Art form and promoting it world wide.

I didn’t see the documentary but everyone was talking about it at work. It sounds like your judgment of the show is right because everyone was saying what weirdos people who own these dolls are. I collect dolls, mainly resin ball jointed ones and have just got my first reborn. She is beautiful but seems to freak a lot of people out. They don’t seem to understand that I wanted her because she is a beautifully crafted doll – not a baby. I have just bought a kit to have a go at making one myself.

Hi, I brought my first and at this point only reborn about 2 years ago. 🙂
I cant have children but I didnt buy my reborn as a baby replacement.
I got my reborn because its an amazing art to be able to create something so life life. I dont see it as a baby substitute but as a remarkable work of art to add to and take pride of place in my collection.
I wish I had the skill to do reborning but having tried it, I just dont have the skill which is why I respect those reborn artists who do such a wonderful job at making these dolls like so life like.
